Summit
The 2024 Health Literacy Summit was the culminating and transitional event of the Advancing Health Literacy Project with the goal of sharing the newly co-created Organizational Health Literacy Model and Toolkit for non-health related community-based organizations.
The Summit showcased and shared the activities of the Advancing Health Literacy project in the community, underscoring the importance of collaboration, shared goals, and sustainability to effectively Advance Health Literacy to Address Health Disparities in the District of Columbia through 2030 and beyond.
The Summit was free and open to all community-based organizations in the District and surrounding area who have a role in serving as a bridge and can implement Organizational Health Literacy in their work.
Morning plenary: Improving Health Literacy for More Equitable Health Outcomes: A Collaborative Leaning Model FOR Practice Change in The District of Columbia
The morning plenary session focused on laying the foundation for sustaining the work, celebrating engaged collaborative practice, and shared learning. The presentations reviewed the components of the organizational health literacy toolkit that were co-created during the project and highlighted the partnership between community-based organizations and DC Health.
